How to Order

It’s easy!

Step 1: Watch for an announcement on LLKW.ca or on our Facebook page that we have a community build scheduled – that’s when we’ll open up orders. Come build with us, or just come to pick up your kit.  If you want to be put onto the waiting / early notification list for the build, just send your frequently-checked email address and the kind of kit you’d like, to builds@LLKW.ca.

Step 2: Decide on what you want.

Gable vs Shed style?  Build at home, vs build with a community, vs have the local Scout troop build one for you?  Install it yourself, or have the Scouts do it for you?

Step 3: Email our build administrator – the address to use will be in the build announcement.  If you’re already on our waiting list, our build administrator will email you first, to give you priority access!

Step 4: Get your library!

If you’re picking it up, you’ll get an email about the pickup time and location.  If you’re having the Scouts build it for you, they will deliver it to your door.

Two additional points:

  • Your Scout-built library will not be painted/finish.  You can use any outdoor-grade paint or wood finish, or get creative and finish it as you like!
  • If you are requesting installation, you are responsible for ensuring a safe digging location for the Scouts.  See our Local Resources page for the number(s) to call for power/gas/cable/phone/etc line locating.  It takes them about a week to come out and paint your yard with the locations of the lines – sometimes multiple locate companies will come out based on your initial request.  The locate service is free for you to use – the Scouts will confirm with you that you have had this done before they come to dig.

I think this is a great idea to increase the number of little libraries around town. My question is about checking with the city before digging the post hole. Would the scouts do that?

Hi, The above link does not seem to be available:https://llkw.wufoo.com/forms/little-libraries-of-kw-order-form/
    I’d love to order one!

      Hi Julie,

That’s correct: for the upcoming build in Preston, please contact the Preston Library directly, and they will take your order. Once that build is done, we’ll re-open the regular sign-ups.

      Thanks!

I have been checking back at this site regularly for a month now, and the kits remain unavailable for purchase. I’d love to promote the program within my neighbourhood and among my friends, however, without access to the kits, the program is not easily implemented. Please advise when they might be available again.

      Hi Jenny,

Thanks for your interest! We just had a build in conjunction with Preston Library where we had kits available (as per the front page of the blog) – they kindly took the orders on our behalf. For our next community build in late June or early July (date TBD) we’ll have the order page turned on again. Because we’re a very small operation, we don’t have stock nor take orders continuously – we just take orders leading up to builds, and folks can either build with all of us at the build, or can pick up a pre-ordered kit from the build and take it home with them.

Thanks again! We’ll have more information on our upcoming build soon.

      Hi Jenny,

Just as a follow-up: I realize that the web page was confusing – sorry about that. I have updated it to be clearer about the process. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

I’d love to order one of the libraries for July 5th- but I am away that weekend- is there an alternate date to pick it up??

  5. Tom says:

Hi Julie, are you able to send someone to pick up the kit?

We’ll be holding one more build this year, probably in August or early September.

  6. Julie says:

OK- I’ll watch for the August build!

  7. Jennifer says:

Hello! I’m assuming I need to wait to order a kit, at this point? I’d love to put one up – we have about 20 kids on our street and what a terrific local resource for them.

    • Tom says:

      Hi there,

Yes, we’ve closed off orders for the July 5th build. I’ll post here as soon as we have a date set for the August build.
